State Wildlife Issues and Ranking

This information is to provide guidance to field offices when ranking state issues for WHIP applications in ProTracts.

State Issue Questions and guidance:

1) Will the project restore or enhance at least one of the following Strategy Habitats: 1) Grasslands, 2) Sagebrush Steppe, 3) Oak Woodlands/Savannahs, 4) Ponderosa Pine Woodlands, or 5) Conifer Forests (as identified in the ODFW Oregon Conservation Strategy)? 40 pts
2) Will the project restore or enhance aquatic habitats and/or improve fish passage for T&E and/or at risk species? 35 pts
3) Will the project convert cropland, pastureland, hayland or orchard/vineyard back to the original historical plant community for that site? 30 pts
4) Will funds from state, local, and/or other wildlife partners contribute at least 25% toward the actual implementation of practices for this project? 20 pts
5) Will funds from state, local, and/or other wildlife partners contribute at least 50% toward the actual implementation of practices for this project? 40 pts
6) Is the project within or adjacent to a Conservation Opportunity Area (as identified in the ODFW Oregon Conservation Strategy)? 30 pts
7) Will the project be part of a research study or have regular monitoring using a scientifically accepted method that will measure the effects of conservation practices implemented on wildlife or their habitat? 25 pts
