Computer Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) -- How To Request ITS Access for NRCS Employees, Partners, Contractors  and Volunteers

Effective July 1, 2005, the forms on the following pages need to be completed to gain access to ITS computer resources. These requirements apply across the board to anyone that needs access to USDA computer resources and email accounts. This includes permanent employees, temporary employees who are expected to work more than 30 days, contractors, volunteers, and partners such as conservation district and RC&D employees.  Background investigations are a condition for access to the USDA network.

Agency employees should have background investigation documentation on file in their Official Personnel Folder (OPF).

All conservation district and other partner employees who connect their computers to the USDA network must have background investigations.  This includes partner employees who do not have a Common Computing Environment (CCE) logins and use the connection only to access the Internet.

USDA memo dated January 14, 2008 (PDF, 37 KB) states that new employees and contractors are required to take the Computer Security Awareness Training (CSAT) and privacy basics training prior to being allowed access to any USDA information systems, sensitive electronic or hard copy data.

After eAuthentication, employees needing access to ToolKit should contact Craig Ziegler in the Redmond Office, (541) 923-4358 Ext 110.
