Supervisor Information:  Ethics Training for New Employees

NRCS Ethics Training Plan

5 CFR 2638.703 requires that all new employees receive ethics training upon appointment to a federal position. NRCS regulations require that this training be completed within the first 30 calendar days on duty. This training requirement has the following elements,

  • The employee must review ethics documents that can be found in the Orientation link for employees under “Ethics.” Once they have reviewed the links, they should have their questions answered by a qualified ethics advisor.
  • The employee must be provided at least 1 hour of official time to review all the ethics training and information as well as receive any verbal training relative to ethics.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure that all these requirements are met within the first 30 days of employment.

Once the employee completes the required ethics training, they should print out the certification form found in the Orientation link under “Ethics,” and send it to the Human Resources office.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your Human Resources office.
