Oregon NRCS/FSA Civil Rights Committee Minutes

SUBJECT: Meeting Date - April 12, 2007

Misty called the meeting to begin.

Ginny is working on woman of success articles
Joe is working on black emphasis. Misty and Joe met with Bob, Larry, and Pedro. Submitted Joe’s an
analysis and demographics to improve the agencies outreach.
Gina & Jill working with public affairs for recruitment packets
Dave is putting on an Asian heritage potluck at State Office on May 17th. Also organizing a diversity day
celebration in Aug. 2007. August Civil Rights meeting.
Kacee is working on Disability Awareness training. It is an all-State project. A video DVD will be able to
be viewed. Deals with workplace communications. Highly recommended to watch once you get a chance.

Tools for reviews- they are expensive. No ordering for each individual. There will be a couple ordered then
Misty will send to each team just before they conduct the reviews.
Ginny went to Special Emphasis Training. She recommended the training.
Misty asked anyone who is going to CR trainings to bring back any handouts of interest for our CR
meetings.
Darca is going to the Civil Rights training for Civil Rights Coordinator’s

Students will be coming from Puerto Rico throughout the State
Eugene, Ontario, Salem, Portland, Baker City.
Misty will be calling on the team that once the students are stationed at their work area’s – she wants
team members to contact, go see in person, be personable and make them feel welcome. Also, give a bit
on the Civil Rights team and what we do within the agency.
Ag fairs are going on. OSU Career Fair is April 25th; need volunteers to staff the booth, answer
questions. All majors will be attending. Please email Misty if interested.

Misty wanted to know who has scheduled their reviews.
Joe and Dave are scheduling Warm Springs and Redmond
Gina said Jeff and Deborah are coming 12th & 13th
Joe is going to Klamath Falls and Lakeview soon. Also was asked to put on a CR Training/Presentation for
the Basin Team meeting. This counts for an action plan.

Darca is working on the query for minority landowners.
Exit Interviews are going to be sent to an employee getting ready to retire. The interviews are used to
improve the agency. They are confidential and only CR and HR look at the interviews. They later share
ideas from the interviews to improve employees and the agency.
Coordinating CR schedules- Ginny still reviewing FSA and NRCS forms and comparing for similarities.
Still working on the review.
CR Meeting at the Portland State Office Aug. 13 at 10-3. Dave might just want to do his diversity day that
same day. Leadership team meeting is the next day Aug. 14th -17th. Let Misty know if you would like to
attend the leadership team meeting.
