Oregon NRCS/FSA Civil Rights Committee Minutes
 

SUBJECT:   Meeting Date - February 14, 2007

Purpose:  The following minutes were recorded at the quarterly civil rights committee meeting held
in Redmond Oregon USDA Service Center.

Meeting Minutes:

Misty opened the meeting with a welcome to the new and returning committee members that were in attendance. After introductions, each member had an opportunity to express their objectives and purpose for serving on the committee. As the agenda was being distributed, Misty emphasizes the importance of reviewing the NRCS Strategic Plan, and Oregon’s Business Plan.

Civil Rights Action Plan: Draft copies of a FY2007-2008 CR action plan were discussed by each action item. Comments and recommendations were suggested along with additional follow-up needed on certain action items. Changes to the draft will be made before further reviewing by SC and Leadership.

Diversity Plan Update: An updated status was given for a draft Diversity Plan Strategy. The brief overview included background information and potential outcomes that will come as recommended strategies. Additional text is needed to reference sources of information and materials displayed, including definition of charts and recommendations.

Other item of Business: Schedules for the yearly Civil Rights office reviews were tentatively set with individual being assigned to those offices to be reviewed. It was noted that the CR review manual has been revived and those updates will be provided at the scheduled training in March. The format of the FSA’s civil rights review process was demonstrated by reviewing the standard forms used in an office review. Office reviews are on a three year statewide rotation.
