SUBJECT:  PER – Deschutes Basin Team Leader Detail Opportunity

ACTION REQUIRED BY:  SEPTEMBER 30, 2008

Purpose: To announce an opportunity to for a detail to fill the Deschutes Basin Team Leader position on temporary basis.

Expiration Date:  September 30, 2008

The Deschutes Basin Team Leader will be detailed out of state effective October 6 through December 17.  

While the Team Leader is on detail, there is an opportunity for NRCS Oregon employees to apply to fill a detail that will last for up to 120 days as the Deschutes Basin Team Leader.  The position of the Deschutes Basin Team Leader located in Redmond, Oregon will be open effective October 6, 2008 through December 17. Selection of the person to fill this detail will be via an application process described below:  

  1. Eligible employees:
    Employees who are detailed to a position at the same grade level or to a higher grade level, or who receive a temporary promotion when the term “Acting” is used, must meet all of the educational requirements of the position in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.  In addition, employees need to meet any Agency specific credentials (e.g. registrations, licenses, or certificates) that are necessary to satisfactorily perform the details of the position.  Employees do not need to meet specialized experience requirements for details. 
  2. Process: 
    Employees meeting the eligibility criteria described in paragraph a. above must submit a written application answering all the questions in paragraph c. below to Pedro Ramos, Leader for Field Operations by close of business September 30, 2008.  Applications via e-mail, fax or hard copy will be accepted.   
  3. Required Questions:
    1. Name, grade level and title and location of current position.
    2. One paragraph resume of professional experience.
    3. Describe two scenarios where you have worked with a large and diverse group of employees to accomplish a common goal.
    4. During this detail, you will be responsible for ensuring the basin meets    its performance goals for FY07.  In general terms, describe the steps you     would take to monitor basin performance and ensure the basin is on track to meet the performance goals.
    5. Describe the most difficult challenge you  have faced in your professional career and the steps you took to deal with the issue. 
  4. Statement of Supervisor Concurrence: 
    Provide a statement certifying that you have discussed applying for this position with your supervisor and they concur in your decision.

 All applications submitted by the June September 30, 2008 deadline will be considered for the position.  Employees will be notified by October 2, 2008.
