SUBJECT: Oregon NRCS Leadership Development Program Mentors
Purpose: We are seeking
volunteers at the GS-12 and above levels to serve as mentors for our future
leaders.
Expiration Date: September 30, 2008
The Oregon NRCS Leadership Development Program Application Announcement closes
on August 25, 2008. We plan to select 4-6 of our highest potential employees to
be involved in an aggressive 9-12 month program. All applicants, regardless of
their selection status, will be notified in writing by September 12, 2008
We are seeking volunteers at the GS-12 and above levels to serve as mentors for
our future leaders. Many of you have the attributes, experiences, and
commitment needed to make this program successful. One mentor will be designated
for each participant in the Oregon NRCS Leadership Development Program. The
mentor and participant that are paired will not be located in the same basin or
office location.
Mentors will be expected to:
- Assist the participant with the individual development plan, individual
project theme, and specific objectives
- Provide advice, counsel, critique, and other guidance
-
Coach (informally)
-
Monitor progress
-
Be available to assist the participant in other ways
-
Set aside time to work with the participant
If you are willing to serve as a mentor, please complete the attached
biographical sketch and submit it to Lesley Kelly, SAO, by August 25, 2008. The
participants will receive copies of the mentors’ bios to review and identify
their preferences. While every effort will be made to ensure program
participants are paired with the mentors of their choice, this may not be
possible, as no mentor will have more than one individual assigned under this
program. Please contact Lesley at 503-414-3211 if you have any questions.
