OR Bulletin 230-2008-5 (PDF, 33 KB)

Date:  January 14, 2008

SUBJECT:   EOP - OREGON’S WORKPLACE VIOLENCE POLICY

Purpose: To restate Oregon’s commitment to ensuring our workspaces are free of violence or harassment.

Expiration Date:  January 31, 2008

This bulletin establishes the Workplace Violence Policy for Natural Resources Conservation Service in Oregon. Oregon NRCS is committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Violence includes injury or the threat of injury to property of persons. It can take the form or fistfights, shootings, stabbings, sexual assaults, or unauthorized use of deadly weapons and explosives. Figures of speech and phrases that threaten violence will not be tolerated.

Violence, or the threat of violence, by or against any employee of USDA is unacceptable and will subject the perpetrator to serious disciplinary action and possible criminal charges. Each employee should report all acts of workplace violence to supervisors or managers, and in case of emergency, directly to law enforcement officials.

Possession, use, or threat of use of a deadly weapon is not permitted at work, including in a Government vehicle. An exception may be made only if the possession or use of that weapon is a necessary and approved requirement of the job.

Every employee has a responsibility to ensure a violence-free workplace and has an obligation to report to management any suspicious or questionable activities.
